Place a Hand

Place a Hand

Our past is a tie
It can bind or break
Strands of destiny
We cast and label fate

Ashes of an act
A voice lost long ago
We try to raise our head
Yet inside’s burning slow

Gasping for some air
Absent of all light
As we close our eyes
Blending with the night

Reaching out a hand
Comfort seeking place
Tears trickle down
Scaling curves of a face

Place a hand in mine
Take a breath to see
In the end this pain
It Isn’t meant to be

Place a hand in mine
With a word, hold tight
Cast away the pain
And I’ll carry you tonight

Place a hand in mine
And I will do the rest
